Backwards Broadway is a gender-reversed cabaret featuring a host of local talent performing hits from iconic musicals, presented by Moreton Bay
Theatre Company.
This entertaining and unique theatrical experience is based on the annual Broadway Backwards fundraiser in New York, and will raise funds for Headspace’s
mental health and LGTBQ+ support groups.
Backwards Broadway will bring to life popular Broadway hits from musicals including Chicago, Aladdin, Hamilton and Jesus Christ Superstar - all performed gender-reversed and all sure to entertain. Drag queen Jenny Vennom's rendition of Poor Unfortunate Souls is set to ignite the
stage.
Director Matthew Bapty says he hopes audiences walk away from Backwards Broadway with an open mind.
“The vision is to show all the aspects of theatre that we know and love in the most unrestrained way possible, where our performers aren’t limited
in any way by their sex or background or by what is traditionally presented in society," he said. “Everyone deserves to feel welcomed and appreciated
in the world and we wanted to represent that on stage.
The show is Parental Guidance recommended and is sure to be a fun and entertaining night out.
